When I go to onet.pl on my Mac mini, the links do not work properly. It goes to the new page but reverts to the home page. I do not have this problem on my mac desktop or even on the mini if I use Safari. I have cleared history and cache, reinstalled Firefox.

This may be related to the googlesyndication.com ad network used by that site. It seems to be causing peculiar back-forward issues on at least one other site.

As a temporary workaround, you can open article links in a new tab using one of these methods:

  • hold down the Command key when clicking a link
  • right-click (or Ctrl+click) the link and choose Open Link in New Tab
  • if you have a middle button on your mouse, middle-click the link

Alternately, another user reported that using the page in a private window bypasses this issue, probably because of the anti-tracking feature. For more information:

Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web Link} by holding down the <Shift>
(Mac=Options)
key, and then starting Firefox. Is the problem still there?

Thank you very much.

Why is this marked solved? It doesn't fix the problem, just give a workaround, which does NOT fix the problem nor is it something that helps my readers -- all of a sudden they have to do something different in order to read the news on our site? NOT a solution.

I still have this problem unless I jump through hoops when it worked fine just a couple of days ago.

Is there any fix to overcome the googlesyndication.com problem? I've asked on Google, but there is no answer there, either. My problem is with the internal links on www.westportnow.com.

Hi wordsilk, in another thread, a webmaster said this is caused by the "Rocket Loader feature by Cloudflare." That looks like something you use on your site.

This might be helpful, I'm not sure how it all works: How can I have Rocket Loader ignore my script(s) in Automatic Mode? – CloudFlare Support

I still don't know why the combination of Adsense + Rocket Loader + Firefox 44 causes this problem, but at least that might provide you with a server-side workaround.

Yes, I saw that, and the solution. And I am working with the admin to see what we can do -- specifically to exclude Rocket Loader for FF browsers only, if that's possible. Less than 4% of our visitors use FF, so I don't want to cripple the site because of the weird bug just to accommodate FF visitors and the expense of all our other visitors (Rocket Loader makes script loading a LOT faster.)

So this issue is definitely not solved -- if I have to turn off something that worked perfectly well until Sunday to get the website links to work as they should, it's a big problem.

Thanks for the link, by the way -- I'll pass it on the admin.

I continued to have problems and called my internet provider, Bright House networks. A tech came out and discovered that I had a bad splitter. One side going to my TVs was fine but the other that went to my internet was bad. This caused extreme variation in speed and frequently cut out entirely which caused the return to previous page. Replacing the splitter solved the problem.

I solved this issue by switching from the automatic Cloudflare rocket launcher to manual -- that way I could keep the acceleration for all of the scripts save google syndication and, surprisingly, discovered that keeping it off Typekit font feeds makes the fonts render properly -- looks like the problem is with FF & Google AdSense and asynchronous script loading. This provides information on how to do this: https://support.cloudflare.com/hc/en-us/articles/200168056-What-does-Rocket-Loader-do-

Conversely, if you cannot turn off Cloudflare rocket launcher for whatever reason, you CAN manually disable it. Info here: https://support.cloudflare.com/hc/en-us/articles/200169436-How-can-I-have-Rocket-Loader-ignore-my-script-s-in-Automatic-Mode-
