I updated thunderbird today and it no longer receives emails. It checks the server but I get no error message. I even deleted my password and it does not get to the point to ask for the password. All other means by which I get my email work, only thunderbird has an issue.

As you have just updated Thunderbird, it is possible that your anti-virus product is blocking Thunderbird. Close Thunderbird and check the AV/firewall product settings.

On occasions, I have had to access anti-virus/firewall product and reset to 'Allow' Thunderbird. For some unknown reason it did not seem to realise that Thunderbird update is still Thunderbird. Once, I had to set to block and then reset to 'Allow. to get it to work. Then restart Thunderbird.

Thanks. I tried that and in the end solved the problem by removing the email account and reinstalling.
