Why do question marks appear in my e-mails when they are opened by the recipients?

When a message is keyboarded, it appears correct on the screen. In the sent box, it also appears correct. However, the receiver of the mail sees "question marks" (upon opening the e-mail) after all periods ending sentences except if a return starts a new paragraph.

If the receiver sends a reply, the original message from us shows the question marks also. It still appears correct in the SENT box.
