Hi all

I recently updated Firefox to version 60.0.1 and since then I am having problems when i am posting in a VBulletin 3.8.4 forum

When I type a reply it all looks fine but when I post it I get an extra blank line between each line of text/paragraph.

Looking at the source code it is adding an extra <br> tag between each line of text.

Another person on the same forum has the same problem so it is not unique to me. They use Firefox too,

It is all fine when using Chrome.

I am running Windows 7

Can anyone help?

Thanks

Sorry it masked out that it is adding an extra " < br > " tag

Does that mean the issue is settled? If so,

That was very good work. Well done. Please flag your last post as Solved Problem so others will know.

No it isn't solved.

I was adding that in my first post it was missing the bit about the " < br > "

The line should read:

Looking at the source code it is adding an extra " < br > " tag between each line of text.

So I still need help please.

Does the forum use plain text or HTML coding? Or something else?

If this does not happen on other websites, this may be a website issue. Perhaps that is how they want it. Check with its support.

Not sure what it uses or how I check but it is my website and forum and this problem only started happening after an upgrade to Firefox.

Thanks for the reply anyway.

I tried the link you provide and after #3 and #13 posting I get a blank white space on FF but also the same results show on Chrome. I think at this point it seems to be coming from the site itself not from the Browser. Also it seems very odd I think those empty white space that I see could be ads-space if your using adblocker or noscripts it could be what was located in those White Spaces.

Thanks for the reply.

The issue is within the actual posts not the advertising space around each forum post.

If you read what I posted in that link above you can see the extra blank lines in my text.

Please ignore the blank spaces where adverts would be.

Yes, older VBulletin sites have an issue with a change in Firefox 60. To revert the change:

(1) In a new tab, type or paste about:config in the address bar and press Enter/Return. Click the button promising to be careful or accepting the risk.

(2) In the search box above the list, type or paste newline and pause while the list is filtered

(3) Double-click the editor.use_div_for_default_newlines preference to switch the value from true to false (was false in Firefox 57-59)

This change was made for compatibility with Chrome, but if sites have been handling Firefox and Chrome differently, then those sites will have a broken behavior in Firefox. This article is for sites that need to adjust to the new behavior:
