TB has a feature, when there are multiple selected messages and the user presses Enter, all of them open in a multitude of new tabs. I never use this feature but sometimes I press Enter by mistake and the feature turns into a major annoyance.

I doubt it. I am not aware of one at least. You might try the right click on the tab and close all other tabs option. It is handy to clean up after such an accident.
