Every time I start Firefox, it tells me it is installing updates and will restart shortly. Why is this happening to version 88.0, which is supposed to be the latest version. It is an endless cycle.

I also use Ninite to maintain application updates. It tells me Firefox is running (although is definitely NOT) and refuses to update it.

Doesn't solve my problem. When I run your installer, it tells me to close Firefox. It is NOT running anywhere I can see. Task manager shows NO Firefox executables running anywhere on my machine.

I restarted my computer and immediately ran the 88.0.1 installer. When it finished, it had apparently cured the update loop in version 88.0. This seems to have solved my problem. I would like to know what happened, though. But not important.

It's possible a file was corrupted.

What security software do you have as it might keep an handle on some files in the Firefox program folder ?

Solved now, but thanks for the input. I use Emsisoft Anti-malware. my computers are behind a whole-house server/firewall and when something strange happens, I try turning off the anti-everything for a moment to see if it could be the culprit. In this case, it wasn't.
