My homepage is google search, and following one of the 'daily' updates to Firefox, everything I type into the google search window gets transferred to the address window of Firefox. I have successfully set the address window not to search, but I can't get the blasted search window from defaulting to the Firefox address window. All the online answers I've seen don't answer this; instead, they discuss setting the address window to not search.

You can turn it off by entering about:config in the URL bar and switching browser.newtabpage.activity-stream.improvesearch.handoffToAwesomebar to false.
