This could indicate a settings problem, but let's start with the data side:
When you have a problem with one particular site, a good "first thing to try" is clearing your Firefox cache and deleting your saved cookies for the site. This involves a visit to the Settings page:
(1) Clear Firefox's Cache
See: How to clear the Firefox cache (only select "Temporary cached files and pages", don't clear other kinds of data)
If you have a large hard drive, this might take a few minutes.
(2) Remove the site's cookies (save any pending work first).
Just below the "Clear Data" button used in the last step is the "Manage Data" button which lets you clear cookies and local storage data for specific sites without affecting other sites. Click "Manage Data" and type discord in the filter bar. Then remove each row individually and save your change.
Then try Discord again. Any improvement?
The advice worked temporarily and it soon begins to fail to load again even when I follow your advice and restart my laptop. Discord will only be temporary once again. What should I do now because I don't want to keep clearing the cache for it to barely work.
A quicker way to reload the current page bypassing the cache is to use either:
- Shift+click the Reload button on the toolbar
- Ctrl+Shift+R
- Ctrl+F5
But there probably is something else going on if that only works intermittently.
Do you recall changing any Firefox connection or security settings?
Although most people are not intentionally using a proxy server, Firefox may discover one set up in your system settings. Sometimes forcing Firefox to ignore those settings helps with weird connection issues. Here's how:
Open the Settings page using either:
- "3-bar" menu button > Settings
- (menu bar) Tools > Settings
- type or paste about:preferences into the address bar and press Enter/Return to load it
In the very tiny search box at the top of the page, type proxy and Firefox should filter to the "Network Settings" section of the page.
Click the Settings button, change the top setting to "No Proxy" and then click the OK button at the bottom of the dialog to save your change.
Any difference?
I'm sorry my Discord is being so difficult and now if I can get it to load (good luck with that), it won't show any pictures.I did what you told me to and I even scanned for viruses on my laptop so it's not that since it found no Malware. What should I do now?
Did you also try on Chrome if Windows to see what happens to verify what other issue could be going on?
