My bookmarks and history have disappeared. The backwards and forwards arrows are not working. I followed all the different instructions in the lost bookmarks sections. when I renamed the file sqlite with .old and quite firefox I couldnt' reopen firefox. It kept saying a copy of firefox was already open. So I went back and renamed the file to default and then I was able to open firefox but still no bookmarks. I have tried all the options that come up there.

This can be a problem with the file places.sqlite that stores the bookmarks and the history.
