There has always been a problem with the security certificate for this site. In earlier Firefox versions I have been able to override this warning by adding an exception. This no longer works in Firefox 4, nothing happens when I press the "Add exception" button. I have reported the certificate problem to the site owners a couple of years ago but they seem to be unwilling to change so overriding the warning is the only option to reach this site (it is my online stock broker and is a trusted site). As is I have had to revert to an older Firefox version, I am logged in to this site daily.

Hello. Yes, there is a problem with adding an exception button, but I found a temporary solution until Mozilla solves the problem. First, copy a link from website you want to enter. Then, go to: Options > Advanced > Encryption tab > View Certificates > Servers tab > Add Exception.. Now paste the link at "Location:" then click "Get Certificate" and Confirm Security Exception. That's all.

Thank you for this solution! I have not tried it yet in Firefox 4 as I had to revert to version 3 awaiting a solution for this problem. But I tried the same solution in version 3 and it works there.

As I am using Firefox in the Private Surfing mode I used to have to go through the procedure to allow a security exception every time I entered this site.

Try deleting the cert_override.txt and cert8.db from your profile folder. Then restart Firefox. profile folder: http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox Source: http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?f=38&t=1160375&start=0&st=0&sk=t&sd=a

My Previous comment was only an advice, but I think I got a solution.

  • 1st in address bar, type about:config, after it, look for security variables, and reset them. "bold" formatted variables are not in default, and enable ssl2.
  • 2nd After it, try disable as much addson as possible, In Tools menu, addson or ctrl+shift+A. After it restart your firefox,

I tested it 4 machines, and this worked for me.
