I have Multiple Folders In Cache! How do I make so there is one folder again?

I updated to 4 when it was released because of this I reverted back to 3.6 waited to see if anything would of changed . I now have version 5! and still no change to cache folder problem. I have been a stornch Mozilla firefox user since year dot! and I can't see myself going forward till we get our pure folder back! can we change this in Multiple folder back to one folder in the about:config? or do we have to get someone(mod) to re code a new direction?

I also must comment that it seems dam stupid. you get this effect in the cache folder. 0,1,2,3,4,5,6,7, 8,9,a,b,c,d,e,f. folders then you get inside them more dam folders example in Cache/D/ folder you get these folders 36,46,5b,79,82,ad,b6,d1,e0,f6!! WTF is this!! and so this carries on to other folder in main line, who the hell thought this crap up?

Sorry, Mozilla isn't going to change that multiple cache folder scheme. It was instituted to allow Firefox the have a larger cache, and a single folder as used in the past really slowed things down with that larger cache.

See if one of these extensions make that a little easier to deal with:

You're probably going to need the ACR extension to get either of them to work in Firefox 5.0.

Thanks for the reply but the answer isn't good. Especially about that this actually helps speeds firefox up. I never had any problems with opening my cache to 50000000000 or whatever the mad figure I put in about:config! I don't see how making multiple folders inside multiple folders makes it faster. Mozilla have known since year dot that people have been using the cache to see and grab stuff from it. I really don't think the new policy's today like it anymore. Maybe this is due to some other new law or circumstance that has evolved, I don't really know I can only surmise this to try and get my head around it.

I also do not see how a work around isn't available. what I mean in laymen terms is.. why a hint of code or area of change can't be shown so we changed this one option to the way it was. Isn't this open source or has that gone too.

Unfortunately for a few us peoples out there this so called speed enhancement we don't need! Unless there's a change, I see no need to have new versions of Firefox , I'll just have to either revert back to 3.6 or to go GC or something. thanks anyway. p.s. I thought firefox was supposed to be no restrictions?
