I searched for "how do I get rid of the Yahoo menu in Firefox". There were several threads about this in the support forum, but none of the suggestions worked (couldn't find it anywhere in Add-Ons). I finally figured out the answer (more below) and wanted to post it, but every single one of the threads on the support.mozilla.org site about this had "This question is locked" at the end. Does someone not want this question answered?

The answer is actually pretty easy. In Firefox's location bar type "about:config". Don't worry about the warning - just make sure you follow the instructions given. In the search bar type "yahoo.ytff.options". One of them will be "yahoo.ytff.options.menubar". The value will be "True". Right-click and select "Toggle" and it will change to "False". Close the window and restart Firefox. Yahoo menu bar is gone.

Questions become automatically locked after 6 months inactivity, or after a period of inactivity depending upon certain parameters. This forum is built around solving the problem for the person who asked the question - the "owner" of the thread.

We don't want users posting a "solution" in every seemingly related thread found from a search of the forums, as it usually results in mass confusion and subsequent unrelated postings in those thread just because they got moved to the top of the forum again.

Edmeister - For https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/824207, the last reply was 3 weeks ago. For https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/844172, the last reply was 1 month ago. For https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/808473, the last reply was also a month ago, and the one before that 2 months ago. Sorry, but the "six months of inactivity" doesn't appear to be the case. Yes, the original reports were a year ago (which suggests to me it was not a coincidence), but it doesn't appear that any were solved -- most of the replies were others reporting the same problem.

In any case, I was hoping to post what clearly does appear to be a solution for those folks. Doesn't look like that will happen.

Those threads were pretty ancient as they were started over a year ago though as Firefox 4.0 was released March 22nd, 2011 for example. Many ancient threads from a year or more ago were locked manually whenever they got bumped for no worthwhile reason also before the autolocking happened a short while ago.
