Why are my downloads not being saved in Firefox? No such problems with other browsers.

All the files that i have been downloading today through Firefox (19.02) are not being saved. When i look at the Download box it shows it is downloading. However, when the download is complete, i left click on the file, the option "open containing_folder" is grayed out. I searched for the files in the location i saved it in and it is not there. Uninstalled and reinstalled firefox. Nothing. Reset firefox. Nothing.

Very frustrating. Never had this problem before until today. Version 19.02 been working but suddenly turned today. Had a problem with my windows genuine cert today but issue has been resolved. Could that have an effect? I can't see how as other browsers have no problems saving my downloads.

It is possible that anti-virus software is corrupting downloaded files or is otherwise interfering with downloading files.
Try to disable the real-time (live) scanning of files in your anti-virus software temporarily to see if that makes downloading work.
