FF with win7. Search argument gens 10 pgs. Click on pg2. Hit back to return to pg1 but get error "Document Expired". How can I "page" without this error?

Running FF with Windows7. I enter a browser search argument that generates 10 pages of potential hits. Nothing on the first page looks interesting so I click on page 2. Nothing on page 2 looks interesting so I hit the 'back' button to return to page 1 and get the "Document Expired" error message. I know this did not always fail because to use the 'back' and 'forward' buttons to access search results pages without getting this error. This fails on FF version 25, 27, and 28.

Is this a setting issue or is there an older version of FF that still allows this useful function?

I have replied to this question for Firefox 21 and Firefox 23, so I don't think it is a new issue...

This message is caused by sites instructing Firefox not to cache the page. When you go back to the page, Firefox honors the site's instructions and requires you to regenerate the request.

If the page design didn't change, do you recall modifying any settings in about:config? If you want to show your list of customized settings, you can copy and paste it here. To copy, go to:

Help > Troubleshooting Information

In the upper left corner, click the "Copy text to clipboard" button and then paste into a reply. If the forum says there is too much content, you can delete the lines that start with print.printer.

Also, do you want to post a link to the search page to see whether volunteers have the same issue?
