i used to have this down, but now for some reason, my background has disappeared and i need to create another one. i've been able to insert the image into the template mail, but it appears repeated times. How can i prevent this?

Usually, an image is just the image, but if you insert this image as background, it will be 'tiled' and therefore looks like repeating both across and down the background.

If you are wanting to put the image as eg: across the top of an email or centralised etc...not tiled.

The image needs to be saved with a larger 'white' background, which would fill the area used by the email. So open up eg: 'Paint' and create a plain background of size...try 400 width by 760 length. Then insert the image. adjust the size of image and position it. Then save the image with a suitable filename. Now insert as a background.

You may need to do this a couple of times / trial and error, until you get the exact desired effect.
