How can I block zooming maps, images, etc.?
I have sensory processing issues. Zooming images *hurt* and can cause immediate, severe, lasting headaches. Many online maps zoom and give me headaches if I try to scroll around them. I need some way to block these and all other zooming images.

There's no way to detect and block zooming things, specifically. But you can set some types of media to only load after clicking on them to activate. Zooming things are often flash media. So setting Flash to only activate after clicking to activate may be helpful to you.
See this article for instructions: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/set-adobe-flash-click-play-firefox
Firefox also has a lot of accessibility options. Some of these may be helpful to you. For complete information on accessibility features in Firefox see the following article: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/accessibility-features-firefox-make-firefox-and-we

Zooming things aren't usually flash though, I've already blocked flash. I can also block Javascript, but can't keep it blocked all the time, and often get hit with zooming when I've enabled Javascript.
I still need help here.
ZOOMING IMAGES HURT.
I've called the big guys to help you. Good luck.
I had a thought. Does the page zoom on it's own, or from your selection?
Place the mouse over the control, close your eyes, press the button, then count to 10 before you open your eyes.
This is probably a good site to be aware of http://www.accessfirefox.org/Firefox_Accessibility_Extensions.php It is a semi official mozilla community run site. IIRC the site and many of its addons were caught out by Australis. That is probably one site we should reach out to in advance if for instance making anything less distinct smaller, or lower contrast.
I don't understand. What control? I am particularly concerned with pages, e.g. newspaper articles, including Google maps as images. As I try to scroll down the article, I keep hitting the map and then PAIN as it ZOOMS. Also, I am unable to scroll around such maps, to find the right place.
I have coordination problems, so I am unable to use narrow scrollbars, or complicated gestures, tapping, etc., but I am able to use two-finger scrolling and a page down button on my mouse, which trigger the zooming.
I can think of two possibilities apart from a plugin and that is using an onmouseover event or using CSS rules to show the zoomed image.
Can you post a few links to web pages where you encounter this issue?
If you visit some pages regularly then it might be possible to find a workaround. Best is of course to avoid hovering such an image with the mouse. Menus that open on hover may also pose a problem. You could try to ask advice on the Adblock Plus forum to see if they have a suggestion to deal with an issue like this.
