i didn't receive some important emails last week, and believe 1 or 2 actually disappeared, I checked every folder, trash included and not there. this morning I had over 1500 deleted emails in an archive folder under local folder Outlook import 2? Pretty sure this wasn't there before. This laptop was used by someone else, and I believe they had Microsoft outlook as email. Thought this may be the problem , so inactivated outlook today. now can not send or receive email. Tried to activate outlook, keep getting message system not able to do. Any advice?

MS Outlook email client program has nothing to do with Thunderbird. But, Outlook might have been set up as default email client.

So, first make sure Thunderbird is set up as default email client on computer. Start > Settings > Control Panel > Default Programs

In Thunderbird: Tools > Options > Advanced > General tab or Menu icon > Options > Options > Advanced > General tab under 'system Integration' select: Always check to see if Thunderbird is the default mail client on startup' click on OK

If still not working: Check Thunderbird is not being blocked by your Anti-virus/firewall program; it should be set to 'Allow'.
