I am going mad with this problem. Since last Thursday my emails will not download from ISP provider. There is a message on the bottom of the screen saying downloading and then the numbers of emails, but that's it nothing then happens. The message disappears and no new emails appear.

My ISP is with BT Internet, and I have a secondary email account also with BT Internet and these emails download okay, as do some from Yahoo.

I have tried to reinstall Thunderbird hoping that this may fix it but nothing. I am so close to ditching Thunderbird and looking for an alternative Mail Client.

Please can someone help

Reinstalling the errant account might be more productive. When you uninstall and re-install the Thunderbird program, the settings files remain in place, so anything wrong with the account will still be there afterwards.

BT's email has never been terribly good. My own account with them frequently whinges that I need to re-enter the password. I don't think their change in the past few years from Yahoo! to Critical Path has resulted in any improvements, and as you'll know if you visit the homepage, they are still in bed with Yahoo!, another of my least-favourite email providers.
