how can I re-establish sound for online sites like youtube

Sound in all my youtubes and interviews is gone.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web link} by holding down the <Shift> (Mac=Options) key, and then starting Firefox.

A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Safe Mode (not Refresh). Is the problem still there?

Have you checked the obvious : that the 'mute' key on your keyboard
hasn't inadvertently been pressed ?
