show multiple open tabs visible above the address bar

more options

Since recent Mozilla 'update' many issues to be sorted on my desktop computer.

One remaining one is this & surely it is an easy one to fix - if someone know how.

I need to have multiple sites open at a time - usually 3 or 4. Prior to the 'update' I used to have the tabs visible at the top, above the address bar. Very convenient - I could see at a glance which sites were open and I had much less chance of accidentally closing any. Now, any extra open tabs are only visible when I hover over the Mozilla icon at the bottom of the screen. Not useful for me at all. How do I get them back up to where they used to be?

Yes, you should still have the tab bar in the same place, showing all the tabs in the current window.

Is it possible that you have multiple separate Firefox windows with one tab each? If your window is maximized, double-click the top bar to make it resizable again and look around for other Firefox windows. To consolidate tabs into a single window, drag a solo tab to the tab bar in the destination window and look for a fat upward-pointing arrow where the tab will be dropped when you release the mouse button.

Extensions

Is it possible your Firefox has a side tabs add-on such as Tab Center or Tree-Style Tabs? Those may show your tabs on the left side of the browser instead of the top. You can view, disable, and often remove extensions on the Add-ons page. Either:

  • Ctrl+Shift+a (Mac: Command+Shift+a)
  • "3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons
  • type or paste about:addons in the address bar and press Enter/Return

In the left column of the Add-ons page, click Extensions. Then cast a critical eye over the list on the right side. Any system extensions that Firefox installs on its own are hidden from this page, so everything listed here is your choice (and your responsibility) to manage. Anything tab-related or suspicious? If in doubt, disable.

Any improvement?

userChrome.css

During your customization process, have you created or downloaded a userChrome.css file? Such a file might include rules customizing the tab bar.
