Suddenly Yahoo mail will not open .docx files. Updated Firefox, restarted, problem still exists.
I've used Yahoo mail for years with Firefox. Suddenly .docx files will not open. I upgraded Firefox to latest version, restarted and still does not work. Any ideas?

Hi stuyoung1, do you mean DOCX files received as attachments? What happens when you try to open/download the files?
jscher2000....Thanks for the response. Yes, I am referring to DOCX files received as attachments to emails in my Yahoo email mailbox. I click on the download arrow and briefly see a message in the lower corner of my screen, as I do when downloading other attachments (PDFs, PowerPoints, etc). The message disappears and nothing happens....all other attachments return the box with the choice to open the file or save it. DOCX files have worked in the past. Any ideas?? Thanks.

Actually, no, you should not select Use Firefox for non-web content like Word documents, or you can cause in infinite loop: Firefox repeatedly opens empty tabs or windows after you click on a link.
Hi stuyoung1, I haven't been in Yahoo! mail for a while, but I don't recall differences between how different types of attachments behaved (unlike Gmail).
Could you test in Firefox's Safe Mode? In its Safe Mode, Firefox temporarily deactivates extensions, hardware acceleration, any userChrome.css/userContent.css files, and some other advanced features to help you assess whether these are causing the problem.
If Firefox is not running: Hold down the Shift key when starting Firefox. (On Mac, hold down the option/alt key instead of the Shift key.)
If Firefox is running: You can restart Firefox in Safe Mode using either:
- "3-bar" menu button > "?" Help button > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
- (menu bar) Help menu > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
and OK the restart.
Both scenarios: A small dialog should appear. Click "Start in Safe Mode" (not Refresh).
Any improvement?
