Email Problem - Thunderbird 78.7.1
I am having a unique problem with 1 of our email addresses. The address is the one I am sending this email from. The problem is only with receiving emails.
When I click"Get Messages" the email shows the message "receiving 1 of ### messages" then immediately shows the error is "Connection to server pop."domain name".com was reset." Some times the verbiage is a little different referring to timing out.
This started in the middle of the day last week. I tried a bunch of the suggested remedies from on line but nothing worked. The odd thing is only this one email address is effected an on 1 of the computers I use. I do a lot of testing of email issues that the staff reports , so I have a dozen or so different email addresses set up on this particular computer. We run Mozilla Thunderbird and have for decades. None of the other email accounts on this computer are having this issue. Also this identical email address is running just fine on my laptop and another PC that I use when I am not in the office. I tried to set up a new email account with a different name but using the same email address. Even though it is in it's own directory, it immediately showed the problem.
I would like to resolve this even though I can still get copies of my emails. It would be nice to know what caused it. I am reluctant to just blow away the problem account and put it back, because the problem occurring immediately when I tried to made a new email account with a different name but the same email address.
Looking forward seeing to your suggestions.

What is your anti-virus software?
Right now on this PC, Malwarebytes. Already turned it off and tried email but got same error. However no other email address on this PC has this problem. Several of them go to the exact same pop server. All email is Thunderbird.
Try to start Windows 10 in safe mode with networking enabled. Win8 Windows 8 safe mode Win7 Windows 7 safe mode
Does the problem go away?

No. Safe mode is exactly the same. This one email gets the error, none of the other emails do. Getting close to just delete this instance of Thunderbird, clean out all related folders and directories and put it back fresh.
Problem solved. It was easier to make a copy of the emails, remove the broken instance, reinstall a new instance and just restore the emails. Took about 20 minutes. Still don't know what caused the problem to start in the first place but... Any it is working fine now.
