The junk unread counter is stuck at 9. There are no unread junk emails. Junk for all my accounts goes to the Local Folders under Junk. This folder works. How to read or clear the 9 unread emails in the Junk folder?

Try these options: Check there is no filter acting on folder.

  • Select 'Junk' folder
  • check the 'Quick Filter Bar' to see if any of those icons are highlighted eg: Starred or Pin etc.

Check to see if index needs repairing.

  • Right click on Junk folder and select 'Properties'
  • Click on 'Repair Folder'
  • Click on 'OK'

Check to clear everything.

  • Right click on Junk folder and select 'Empty Junk'
  • Right click on Junk folder and select 'Compact'
