how do I get rid of some of my downloads on the menu without removing all of them?
I have duplicates and it says "remove all" but I only want to remove some.

If your mouse has a right-button, in the Downloads window right-click and select Remove From List.
You can also use the Delete key (maybe Shift + Delete on Mac) to remove the currently selected item in the "Tools > Downloads" window.
