i installed VLC media player, and now when ever i open a new tab, instead of a blank page, it opens yahoo search. i was wondering if there was some way i could change this. any help would be awsome thank u

This will be caused by an add-on. Check any Yahoo related add-on, or any add-on that has been added by the VLC media player to see if it has changed this. The freeze net assistant add-on is another one that will cause Yahoo search to be displayed on new tabs. If you have that add-on you can uninstall it.

There are add-ons that let you choose what you want on a new tab, but without identifying what one is currently causing Yahoo to appear I would not install one of these as it may cause conflicts. For example, the NewTabURL add-on lets you set what opens in a new tab - https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/newtaburl
