Updated Firefox to 8.0 but now Firefox will not start? Ideas?

Last night Downloaded Firefox 8.0 - but it hung up "checking addons for compatibility" came away from that Firefox wont start or if it does start it hangs immediately. Have made permissable by Mcaffee firewall. deleted it re downloaded version 7.0, version 8.0 again and back to 4.0 None of these work - add seem to hang up checking the add-ons. Google Chrome works fine but how do I get firefox to work - any ideas?

I have the same problem. Firefox browser 8.0 will not start after update or reinstall. I download firefox version 6.0.2 from Google site it working fine now.

I have fire fox 7 with a message that i am not on latest version of fire fox upgrade today which i tried without success. still on7. would not have this problem if fire fox would not constantly upgrade every three to four months i just changed to 7 about a month or two ago. browser people are going crazy with up grades. it is very difficult to keep up and is extremely annoying.
