Having followed the support article for removing the block on the older version of Java, I now have no Java plugin. The only prompt I get from Firefox is to go to the Oracle web site, download and install the newer version (FF actually goes to the wrong page, not the most current version of Java). I already have Java 1.7 update 3 installed, SDK and JRE. I absolutely do not want to download and rerun the installer, nor should I have to.

In the bad old days, on linux I could just link from the plugin .so to the plugins directory for FF. I don't know why this simple methodology was removed -- too user friendly? Now, on Win 7 I don't even have a plugins directory.

Thus, the question: How do I tell FF 10 to use the JRE in %JRE_HOME%, since it isn't smart enough to find it itself?

Thanks.

mp

NB All older versions of Java have been removed and JAVA_HOME and JRE_HOME have been set.

Hi,

You can try deleting the pluginreg.dat file in the Firefox Profile Folder. Firefox will recreate the file and reinitialize the plugins database. You can also open the profile folder via Firefox Help (Alt + T) > Help > Troubleshooting Information > Open Containing Folder. Please note that the 32-bit Firefox would need the 32-bit Java plugin.
