Some websites (Gawker sites for example) won't remember my settings or login info even though I ask to save them. Most other sites are fine.

Last week I changed some of my passwords and now some of the sites I changed the login info for no longer keep me logged in even after I've ask them to do so. As an example, I will ask Gawker sites to remember that I want to view their sites in blog view as I always have but after an hour it will always revert to the default settings. Other sites I will sign into and 30-60 minutes later I go back and am logged out.

There is a difference between remembering the name and password in the Password Manager and a "remember me" check box on a web page to log you in automatically.
The latter usually involves the creation of a special "remember me" cookie that is stored on your computer and that is send to the server.
If that "remember me" cookie is removed or gets corrupted or is not send to the server then the server won't remember you anymore and you need to sign in once again.

Clear the cache and the cookies from sites that cause problems.

"Clear the Cache":

  • Firefox > Preferences > Advanced > Network > Offline Storage (Cache): "Clear Now"

"Remove Cookies" from sites causing problems:

  • Firefox > Preferences > Privacy > Cookies: "Show Cookies"

If clearing the cookies doesn't help then it is possible that the file cookies.sqlite that stores the cookies is corrupted.
Rename (or delete) cookies.sqlite (cookies.sqlite.old) and delete other present cookie files like cookies.sqlite-journal in the Firefox Profile Folder in case the file cookies.sqlite got corrupted.
