My computer crashed, I was able to restore it but now I get the message that Mozilla is already running.
I have tried to stop the process using task manager and it is not there. I have uninstalled and reloaded twice. I tried to delete the profile lock but I don't see a parent lock file in my default folder. What do I do now?

Sounds that the profiles.ini file is missing or didn't get replaced.

Hi dana,
Sorry you are having problems.
This is rather long and generalised, but I am trying to cover most likely problems from the start, before you need to post back with results of what happened. Have you already seen and read
- Firefox hangs or is not responding - How to fix_delete-duplicated-session-restore-files
( a long article scroll to see other information) - "Firefox is already running but is not responding" error - How to fix
- Note you should also look for plugincontainer, not just Firefox processes, that is the first step.
- Also you should be trying to start in safe mode, by for instance holding down the shift key as you start Firefox.
- Then check multiple session restore files are not the problem.
- The new reset feature is also worth a try if safe mode did not help
- It is also worth noting that the latest FlashPlayer 11.3 on Windows Firefox has issues and could cause crashes or other problems.
- the general information on crashes is
- Troubleshoot Firefox crashes (closing or quitting unexpectedly)
- but take care when updating FlashPlayer in particular that you do not run into any FlashPlayer 11.3 issues, you may need to NOT update that, and even ensure automatic updates for FlashPlayer are turned off
Plugins are NOT disabled in SafeMode. You may need to start Firefox in a clean profile or uninstall FlashPlayer if you are getting startup problems/crashes involving Flash11.3
If Firefox is running, the temporary workaround for Crashes, or some other problems with FlashPlayer 11.3 is to uninstall with the Adobe Uninstaller, and then reinstall FlashPlayer 10.3 - which is secure, or the less secure 11.2. Full instructions are in the current version of the article
- flash 11.3 crashes
- note the adobe Uninstaler may uninstall more than expected, and you may need to check if say IE needs Flash re-installing
- if you downgrade turn off the automatic upgrades to Flash, and ignore plugincheck suggestions to upgrade, until a permenant fix is available.
- Flash 11.3 is quite likely to be problematic with some RealPlayer software, and maybe other video recording or downloading software

None of this seems to be helping. Is there anyway that I can actually talk to a tech support person from Mozilla?
Never mind the last message. I got it back by deleting the profiles.ini_file. Thanks for all your help.
