Repeated and constant crashes, Help!
Firefox has been repeatedly crashing after it's been open for around an hour or so. Sometimes it says it's because the plugin container has stopped working but other times it just outright crashes, and brings me straight to the "send info to mozilla" window. I've tried reinstalling firefox, downgrading flash, upgrading flash etc and it hasn't helped.
If there's any information that I need to provide please respond I would be happy to provide whatever is necessary to fix this issue.

Hey, I've disabled the addon and firefox has been working perfectly again, thanks alot!
On a side note, was it an issue with the addon that could be fixed eventually? Should I try re-enabling it once they put out a patch? Or is it just an addon known to cause issue that I shouldn't ever use again.
Yes the current version is Ghostery 5.0.3 and others have reported it to solve the problem of freezes or crashes.
- it is available here https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/ghostery
Please try the upgrade and report back.
I'm having same issues as 'systm' had. Here is the info for my last 5 crashes:

Hi Marsea,
You are having crashes. They may have nothing in common with this threads Original Post. If they have the same solution you would have tried it and solved your own problem.
- Please start your own question using /questions/new
- Follow the prompts to include full trouble shooting information.
- Post back here again to confirm you have done that.
- Your crashes may well be Flash &/or video related by the way

Plugin crashes actually NOT on any movie clip but on these sites:
http://www.google.com/finance?q=bhp&ei=xpsnUuDiKMnvkQX6VQ
There is a CHART there that with SHOCKWAVE PLUGIN disabled shows OK but in its primitive version. When plugin is enabled then Firefox freezes, plugin keeps eating RAM at a rate of ~ 30MB / sec, and eventually Firefox says in STATUS BAR: ADOBE FLASH PLUGIN HAS CRASHED.
Up until ~ 3 weeks ago all worked fine. Now no matter what updates I run the plugin crashes. I even tried two of my past Restoration points - even this does not fix the problem, which is really strange.

balba, they need to be submitted and start with bp- to work.
Can you make your own thread, as already said here you may have a different problem than the OP (that was solved).
You can check for problems with current Flash plugin versions and try these:
- disable a possible RealPlayer Browser Record Plugin extension for Firefox and update the RealPlayer if installed
- disable protected mode in the Flash plugin (Flash 11.3+ on Windows Vista and later)
- disable hardware acceleration in the Flash plugin
RE: "disable hardware acceleration in the Flash plugin -AND- disable protected mode in the Flash plugin" : - I can't do this as I am not able even to get to those settings. - mms.cfg does not exist on my system
RE: RealPlayer Browser Record Plugin extension I do not have this plugin extension
Please note that when I disable SHOCKWAVE FLASH plugin then crash does not occur and web pages dsiplay OK except that the charts are in their very primitive form.
I've been having similar issues with my Firefox lately as well. It doesn't tell me why it crashed, it just says 'We're sorry, Firefox Crashed', the normal window that shows up when it just...crashes.
The constant crashing was so bad on 9/6 (17 times within a 1 hour window) that I tried re-setting Firefox, removing addons etc, and just keeping my bookmarks. I thought it might have been an issue with AdBlock, since it's not crashing as much now, but hasn't stopped. It's gone from 17 times in an hour to once every couple of hours, which isn't that much of an improvement really. In fact, I'm typing this response in Chrome since I don't trust Firefox to stay open long enough when I'm typing lengthy responses like this.
The most recent crash errors have been these:

I'm really at a loss at what to do. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Iceh, 3 of the most recent 5 crashes have the same signature, and all 5 seem linked to issues with Firefox's JavaScript compiler. This compiler is disabled automatically in Firefox's Safe Mode, so one possible test would be to run in Safe Mode for a while. This does disable extensions, so that is inconvenient, but since you already did a Reset, perhaps you can tolerate that a bit longer.
More info: Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode.
You can restart Firefox in Safe Mode using
Help > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
In the dialog, click "Start in Safe Mode" (not Reset)
Or to start Firefox in Safe Mode if it's not currently running, hold the Shift key when launching Firefox.
Any improvement in stability?
Crashes where garbage collection (GC) is involved are usually caused by memory corruption (trying to free memory that is still in use or access memory that is no longer in use) and are usually not easy to track.
jscher2000 --- It hasn't crashed since I switched to FF Safe mode, which is a godsend. Though I'm not sure what that tells me in regards to the Javascript Compliler. How is that rectified exactly, if you know?
Either way, thank you for the tip! Very helpful!
Hi Iceh, here are 4 things I think you might want to switch while in Safe Mode, before returning to normal mode.
Disable hardware acceleration of graphics
This works around the occasional incompatibility with graphics drivers.
orange Firefox button (or Tools menu) > Options > Advanced
On the "General" mini-tab, uncheck the box for "Use hardware acceleration when available"
Disable the new Firefox 23 Baseline JavaScript compiler and the IonMonkey JavaScript compiler introduced in Firefox 18
It might not be necessary to disable both, but as I am not sure how they interrelate, it seems safest to treat them as a pair.
(1) In a new tab, type or paste about:config in the address bar and press Enter. Click the button promising to be careful.
(2) In the search box above the list, type or paste java and pause while the list is filtered
(3) Double-click each of the following preferences to switch their value to false:
(A) javascript.options.baselinejit.content
(B) javascript.options.baselinejit.chrome
(C) javascript.options.ion.content
When you exit and restart Firefox in normal mode, those changes should take effect. Is Firefox stable?
Today is Sept 20 and this week FF has crashed about 20 times in the last three days. I see nothing on the internet that talks about this. I have FF 24.0 but have had it since it came out so it can't be that. Its extremely frustrating. I switched from IE to FF two years ago due to its stability among other things.
Hi tbenton, is this your first post about the crashing?
Firefox is sensitive to external factors such as changes to your graphics drivers, as well as add-on issues. Because these vary from system to system, it would be great if you could start a new thread and include your system information as well as some crash IDs from this week. Those IDs allow volunteers to find your crash details in the online database.
- Link to start a new thread (scroll down to the form): https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/new/desktop/fix-problems
- Article describing how to find the crash IDs: Troubleshoot Firefox crashes (closing or quitting unexpectedly)
This thread already has a solution to the Original Post.
I think all questions asked have been answered so I will now lock the thread, before any further additional questions get asked.
If anyone has a strong need to update this or include any further cross links please pm me or another Moderator.
