I cannot access Halifax Online (my bank) anymore. I can if I use IE.
I enter my username and password into the Halifax Online page (https://www.halifax-online.co.uk/personal/logon/login.jsp) as usual and hit the "Continue" button. Nothing happens! Absolutely nothing. If I do exactly the same thing in IE then it works fine, ie my password is validated and I am asked on a fresh screen for some more security information. This is a recent problem which has occured within the last 48/72 hrs. Thanks.

Hello,
Try Firefox Safe Mode to see if the problem goes away. Safe Mode is a troubleshooting mode, which disables most add-ons.
(If you're not using it, switch to the Default theme.)
- You can open Firefox 4.0+ in Safe Mode by holding the Shift key when you open the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.
- Or open the Help menu and click on the Restart with Add-ons Disabled... menu item while Firefox is running.
Once you get the pop-up, just select "'Start in Safe Mode"
If the issue is not present in Firefox Safe Mode, your problem is probably caused by an extension, and you need to figure out which one. Please follow the Troubleshoot extensions, themes and hardware acceleration issues to solve common Firefox problems article for that.
To exit the Firefox Safe Mode, just close Firefox and wait a few seconds before opening Firefox for normal use again.
When you figure out what's causing your issues, please let us know. It might help other users who have the same problem.
Thanks!

Can you think of any software or add-on updates in recent days?
General Suggestion
When you have a problem with one particular site, a good "first thing to try" is clearing your Firefox cache and deleting your saved cookies for the site.
(1) Bypass Firefox's Cache
Use Ctrl+Shift+r to reload the page fresh from the server.
Alternately, you also can clear Firefox's cache completely using:
orange Firefox button (or Tools menu) > Options > Advanced
On the Network mini-tab > Cached Web Content : "Clear Now"
If you have a large hard drive, this might take a few minutes.
(2) Remove the site's cookies (save any pending work first). While viewing a page on the site use either:
- right-click and choose View Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
- Alt+t (open the classic Tools menu) > Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
In the dialog that opens, you can remove the bank's cookies individually.
Then try reloading the page. Does that help?
Thanks for the suggestions. I have tried them all - cleared the cache, cleared the cookies and rebooted. Still no change - I hit their "continue " button like I have done hundreds of times before and nothing happens.
Clearly something has changed on my machine but I have no idea what - I do not know of anything obvious that has changed in the last few days.

Thanks very much - the safe mode option solved the problem. I then went in and looked at my list of add-ons. I've removed 3 of them - all commercial-type stuff that I didn't need anyway and restarted in "normal" mode and ... everything is still fine so it looks like one of them was causing the problem. Many thanks again.
You're welcome!
