It seems that until just a few months ago, I had not trouble using Firefox to view the Java applets on this http://comp.uark.edu/~jgeabana/java/VectorCalc.html and other sites. Now I am hearing from other Mac users they are having the same problem. One friend said they could get it to work only if they booted the PC side of their more recent Mac. My Mac is MacPro running OS10.5.8 and I have done all of the updates as of today.

Did you update to Java Update 10 for OS X 10.5 ?

That update has removed a link to the Java Plugin2 used by Firefox and other browsers like Google Chrome.
