I need a way to chance the folder where firefox save the open files, from WINDOWS\TEMP file to another folder. The problem is that with "open with" the firefox save the file in the windows temp folder, I just need to change to "E:\TEMP" folder

I try browser.cache.disk.directory but this not work cause just move the internet cache folder, not the file open folder.

You can do this by creating a new hidden preference.

  1. Type about:config into the URL bar
  2. Accept the warning message that appears
  3. Right-click somewhere and select "New -> String"
  4. For the name of the preference type browser.cache.disk.parent_directory
  5. For its value type the path to where you want to store the cache (e.g. "E:\TEMP")
  6. Next locate the preference browser.cache.disk.enable, it must be set to true, if it is not, change it to true

THis does not work, I did and now firefox justa save CACHE in E:\TEMP but continues to save file open in windows %TEMP%. Very boring firefox. I did it easy in chrome But in firefox there's no way to open PDF file after download. Or you select "OPEN WITH" and the firefox will only open the file and delete. Or you select "DOWNLOAD" and then firefox only save the file and you need two mouse clicks to open the file, I need to auto DOWNLOAD and OPEN pdf files.

Several options here.
  • Download the file in Firefox, then use Save As
  • Download using Firefox. In the Download Manager, right click the file and select Display File. When the download is finished, open it.
This is all under normal conditions. Note: by using Firefox to display the on-line file, the file is downloaded to a temporary folder. But it may not have a file name you would under- stand. Plus, at some point, temp files are deleted. Last option; Go to the Mozilla Add-ons Web Page {web link} (There’s a lot of good stuff here) and search for what you want.

Sorry all, Thanks for the help but... In FireFox there's no way to auto download and open PDF file with acrobat Reader. You must open the file by clicking in the download button or use "OPEN" but with this option the file will be deleted after firefox closes

If you open a file to view it and then decide you to keep it all or most viewing options include an option to save the file.

Opening a file once downloaded is hardly difficult it only takes a few mouse clicks.
