My tv guide site no longer remembers my preferences for the site.
My TV guide site has for years remembered my preferences. For the last 2 weeks it has not but always goes to the current time. My preferences are still set to 7 pm but for some reason the site does not remember and always goes to the current time. Can anyone help? Thanks
I've tried the Firefox Refresh but that doesn't help.

Many site issues can be caused by corrupt cookies or cache.
- Clear the Cache and
- Remove Cookies
Warning ! ! This will log you out of sites you're logged in to.
Type about:preferences<Enter> in the address bar.
- Cookies; Select Privacy. Under History, select Firefox will Use Custom Settings. Press the button on the right side called Show Cookies. Use the search bar to look for the site. Note; There may be more than one entry. Remove All of them.
- Cache; Select Advanced > Network. Across from Cached Web Content, Press Clear Now.
If there is still a problem, Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web link} While you are in safe mode;
Type about:preferences#advanced<Enter> in the address bar.
Under Advanced, Select General. Look for and turn off Use Hardware Acceleration.
Poke around safe web sites. Are there any problems?
Then restart.
Thanks for your time and input.
The first set of instructions didn't fix it. Tried the second set of instructions which didn't fix it and slowed down pages loading. The site still shows my chosen settings in preferences, but it still doesn't remember them.
To make sure it's a Firefox problem, I experimented and used Internet Explorer. I set my preferences, saved the link, closed IE, reopened it, went to the saved link and it worked OK.
So it's definitely a Firefox problem.
You may have a corrupt cookies.sqlite file.
Type about:support in the address bar and press enter.
Under the page logo on the left side you will see Application Basics. Under this find Profile Folder. To it’s right press the button Show Folder. This will open your file browser to the current Firefox profile. Now Close Firefox.
Locate the cookies.sqlite file. Then rename or delete it. Restart Firefox.
Thanks again, tried deleting the cookies.sqlite file as suggested, sorry to say that didn't work.
What link or bookmark do you use to access that page?
Does the link include this time as GET data appended (?xxx=xxx) as part of the URL?
If you use a bookmark then try to delete this bookmark and create a new bookmark in case the website has changed its coding.
Thank you. I've deleted the bookmark every time I've made changes and reset my preferences then created a new bookmark for it.
The link is http://www.tvguide.com/listings/
I also use that link. No problems. Are you logged on to the site?
No, I've never had to log in. It works in IE without me being logged in. Thanks.
Start your Computer in safe mode with networking. Then start Firefox. Try Safe web sites. Is the problem still there?
Sorry for the delay. In the process of trying your last suggestion, my computer crashed. I tried getting it back with the Windows 8.1 USB boot stick I had made but that didn't work. I tried Hiren's USB boot stick and that didn't work either. Luckily I had also made an installation USB stick and used that to reinstall my Windows 8.1.
In the process of the installation, I was offered to upgrade to Windows 10 and decided to do that so I wouldn't have so many updates to go through reinstalling Windows 8.1. So I've been busy installing 10 and getting all my backup files, programs, & drivers installed.
I installed Firefox, went to the TV Guide site, made my preferences, and it worked. Closed Firefox, reopened and went to the TV Guide site and my preferences were not remembered. I haven't put any add ons in Firefox and assumed it would remember. I'll figure out how to start Windows 10 in safe mode and try your last suggestion. Thanks
How to boot into safe mode in Windows 10 - CNET http://www.cnet.com/how-to/how-to-boot-into-safe-mode-in-windows-10/#!
Thanks. Followed the steps at the link and got the same result when I tried starting in Safe Mode in Windows 8.1 before it crashed. The result is a message pops up after clicking on the last step that states: "Your PC ran into a problem and needs to restart etc." Then it restarts in normal mode. So, this must be a problem with my computer and I should leave this Firefox forum and search this out on Google. I may just try to go back to Windows 8.1. Not too enthused with 10.
Thank you for all your time and help.
Many have had problems with Win 10. Try this link first; https://support.microsoft.com
Thanks for the link. I reverted back to Win 8.1. Fresh install of Firefox on Win 10 then again on Win 8 didn't solve the problem. I give up. Thanks for all your help.
Are you running both Win 8 and 10?
Remove History For One Site Open the History Manager <Control><Shift> H. In the search bar, enter the name of the site. Right click on one of the listings and select Forget About This Site. This should remove all information, including any passwords / settings.
I'm just running Win 8.1.
Tried your suggestion, still doesn't remember. I think I'm just going to really "forget about that site".
Thanks again.
Today, it works. I have no idea why. Hope it keeps working.
