Thunderbird slower on Windows 7

more options

I have a weird issue with Thunderbird. It´s 10 times slower on a new computer (Core i5, 8 GB RAM, 512 GB SSD, Windows 7 Pro x64) to edit/forward any message with attachments than on a older computer (i3, 6 GB RAM, 500 GB 7200 RPM HDD, XP SP3 x86).

It´s configured with Gmail and Imap. Using the same version on both computers (already tried updating to the lastest nightly build , creating a new profile, safe-mode, etc) it takes 20 seconds or more to edit/forward a message on the newer computer (no antivirus or proxy and power saving disabled) and less than 2 seconds to edit/forward the same message on older computer.
