How can I remove McAfee Security Scan Plus?
On my start page, under All Programs, no McAfee is shown. With the control panel, it is shown, but when I try to remove, it won't work. I don't know how it got on, but I think it slipped in with an update.

McAfee is offered as an optional download during the install of some programs.

Then try to remove the program.
It’s very sad, but many of the software downloaders / installers will trick you into installing not only their program, but other programs as well. You have heard of the fine print in shady contracts, right? Well, some installers you need to look at the itsy bitsy teeny weeny fine print. You are thinking you are giving the installer permission to install the program you want by using the recommended option. But if you use the Manual Option Instead, you discover all kinds of stuff that you do not even know what it is or what it does. From now on, everyone needs to Use The Manual Option to put a stop to this.
Thanks - but when I go into programs and try to uninstall McAfee Security Scan Plus, first the "User Account Control" block opens. After clicking the "Continue" block, another box opens that says " NSIS Error on the first line, next line "Error Launching Installer", below has an "OK". When I hit the OK, it closes and the McAfee Security Scan Plus program is still there.
This is the same thing that happens when I do it in "Safe Mode".

Maybe try to reinstall the program and then try again to remove the program.
Make sure to get the official McAfee from their web site.
