My calendar has been working fine for years. But since about 3 weeks ago, it stopped synchronizing in one direction: when I enter an event on my computer, it only gets entered into my home calendar but does not appear in my Google calendar. Events entered into google calendar on other device appear in the Thunderbird calendar.

do you have Google synchronize to say a phone? try turning off that device.

Did you really mean "entered into my home calendar"? Lightning's default "home" calendar doesn't synchronize.
