Firefox 48 has no usable search function without going to already established { in tabs} google site. In Preferences, the search panel is not accessible. Firefox 47 was working fine. This is not progress.

You might want to take that up with Ubuntu which built your Firefox version.

Thank you for your help . your fix solved the problem and "Search" is now functional in preferences as well as in tabs. Tom
