Firefox 29 was released on April 29, 2014 (3 1/2 years ago) and with it came a new version of Sync and all new Sync servers. Sync 1.5 isn't backwards compatible with the older Sync 1.1 as was used in Firefox 4.0 thru Firefox 28.
A transition period of about 18 months was provided for users of the older Sync 1.1 and Firefox 28 (and earlier versions). Then those old Sync servers were destroyed.
That said, Sync wasn't and still isn't intended for storage of user data like with "Cloud" services. Proper use of Sync is constant synchronization of user data among multiple devices. Disconnecting devices periodically and for a few months at time (like for laptops / tablets that are only used when traveling) works, from what I have heard.
Sorry, but your old data is gone.

Resetting the sync password, or changing its e-mail, will remove all data from the servers.
This is a security feature. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/ive-lost-my-firefox-sync-account-information
- I've lost my Firefox Sync account information - What to do
- I’ve forgotten, or don't have access to, my Firefox Account email address
