Using Firefox Quantum 58.0.1 Accidentally hit save password for a banking web site and now I cannot find it to remove it. I went to Tools > Options > Privacy & Security and it is not listed with the other passwords there. Is there any other place where passwords are stored? I really need to remove this password a.s.a.p.! Thanks!

No other places that Firefox stores user passwords.

But some security applications do work thru Firefox to save user passwords, but I have never heard of any where "some" got save to that application, with others were stored in Firefox; usually it an "either / or" situation - "one or the other", but never alternatively.

You can use these steps to remove saved items from an autocomplete drop-down list.

  1. click the (empty) input field on the web page to open the drop-down list
  2. highlight an entry in the drop-down list with cursor Down key
do not click the mouse or press the Enter key
  3. press the Delete key (on Mac: Shift+Delete) to delete the highlighted entry

Note that hovering with the mouse no longer works.

Thanks. I think you are on to something... this must be caused by the auto-fill feature. I deleted all the entries but as soon as I typed in the account number again, the password was still there. What I need to do is to delete the auto-fill info for this banking web site. Ideas???

I give up! Everything I try deletes the password but then it comes back again. Something is hidden somewhere and I just can't seem to find it. Oh well, thanks to all for trying to help. Cheers!
