Sync or update Bookmarks

more options

I see allot of articles referencing how to import and export bookmarks. I'm not able to find anything on how to update bookmarks using FireFox. Much like Xmarks did.

For example. Lets say I created a folder called Trucks on computer 1. Saved a web page in the Trucks folders on computer 1. Now I go to computer 2. The folder Trucks is not showing up in the bookmarks menu.

So FF don't have anyway of updating or syncing bookmarks so they will show up on other computers?

Thanks.

Hi, you are using a example. Is this a issue or not ?

Have a look at these, they are searches, 1 is bookmark, other is bookmark manager. See if something is useful to you.

This would be the example I am referring to.

This would be computer 1. Witch shows the American Truck Simulator folder saved on the Bookmarks side bar. https://prod-cdn.sumo.mozilla.net/uploads/images/2018-06-16-01-56-39-4ee063.png

This would be computer 2. Witch doesn't show the folder that was created and saved on computer 1. https://prod-cdn.sumo.mozilla.net/uploads/images/2018-06-16-01-53-45-a15283.png

This question is. Don't FireFox sync other Firefox browsers. Much like what Xmarks used to do. Or do I need to create a FireFox account?

Thanks.

Sync is supposed to synchronize all bookmarks and all folders on all devices, but that may not happen immediately depending upon how many folders you have and the total number of bookmarks. Give it a few days and see what happens.

As far as synchronizing the bookmarks in each folder, the folder name has to be absolutely identical. A difference in "spaces" between words in the folder name, or using & and + interchangeably will make those different folders. And even with the folder name being identical, sometimes the folders may never synchronize automatically.

If you go to rearrange bookmarks and folders, Disconnect from Sync first on that device. When you done re-connect and Sync will send those changes slowly over some time, depending how many changes you made. The worst thing to do is to rearrange on both devices at close to the same time, which can confuse Sync, IMO and my experiences.

Overall, the concept of XMarks and Sync is similar but it doesn't always work the same. Sync has far less in the way of user controls, and there is no "master / slave" - each desktop / laptop device is treated the same, but there are differences on "mobile builds"; i.e., Firefox for Android and Firefox for iOS which may have fewer bookmarks getting synchronized and they have their own separate folder on desktop / laptop installations.

Thanks for the info. Where is the sync?

I really hate that Xmarks closed. It was much easier to manage.

You made no comments of the URL's provided as this is one that syncs : https://addons.mozilla.org/en-GB/firefox/addon/atavi-bookmarks/?src=search

Explain and expand on the question where is Sync ?

Sync does not replace backing up your profile or your bookmarks for safety.

3 Bar Menu, Click and Sync is at the very top.

Thanks for the info.

So bottom like FireFox don't update or sync bookmarks throughout several computers then?

Any recommendations on bookmarks that will do such that? Back up would be useful.

Thanks

Sync = synchronize

Sync works fine to keep bookmarks the same on multiple devices, and sending "updates" to the Sync server in "real time".

As far as bookmark backups see these support articles. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/restore-bookmarks-from-backup-or-move-them https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/export-firefox-bookmarks-to-backup-or-transfer
