Embedded Tweets Cut Off Using Firefox and Ad Blocker

more options

I use Ad Block Plus, but I've seen this issue with other ad blockers. When there is a page that has an embedded Tweet it is either cut off or only appears as text rather than the regular tweet. Whenever I turn off the ad blocker and refresh the page it appears as normal. I don't want to have to disable the ad blocker all the time as I've come to rely on it. I have the same set up in Chrome and I do not get the same issues, so I think it has to be something with how Firefox is handling the tweet. I don't want to have to switch to Chrome as I have various reasons for wanting to stay with Firefox.

This forum is for support with Firefox. Extensions (like ad blockers) are developed by third party developers and are not maintained by Mozilla.

You will need to contact the developer of the ad blocker that you are using to report the issue so that they can fix it. You can also try whitelisting the Twitter domains because it sounds like the ad blocker is simply blocking all or part of the Javascript file required to format the embedded Tweets.

Hope this helps.

Which ad-blocker extension do you use?

I understand that this is for Firefox and not a specific extension/add-on. The issue is that I attempted this with three different ad blocking add-ons. Since they all had the same results the only thing that I can see is that they way Firefox is reading embedded tweets will flag it as an ad or something else that the ad blockers use to block ads.

I have attempted to whitelist Twitter, but that has not resolved the issue.

Please note I tried using the following ad-blockers:

AdBlock Plus Adblock Adblocker Ultimate

Firefox has nothing to do with how ad blocking extensions work. If the issue is not happening when you don't have any ad blockers installed, then the issue is not with Firefox.

uBlock Origin seems to be the "choice" now-a-days.

Regardless of which ad blocker you use, please visit the support forum for the add-on that you use and ask them for help with your problem. I used AdBlock Plus for many years and found help in their support forum many times. http://adblockplus.org/forum/
