I am new to Thunderbird. It was working fine until I set up all servers (9 accounts) to just download headers. When I discovered the links (Download the rest of the message.) would not work I changed all the servers back but it did not change anything.

I am giving up on this as it seems that if you download the header you just can't download the message.

re :if you download the header you just can't download the message. It would be useful to see an image of your current server settings for the account.

Please logon to webmail account using a browser and report as to whether the message is in the server Inbox.

re :I changed all the servers back but it did not change anything. After changing all the settings back to auto downloading messages, did you restart Thunderbird? Please note it would only auto download new messages - not those you have already downloaded. Hence why I need to know (image) what settings you are using and whether you have still got all those emails on the server. It would also be useful to know what server eg: gmail.

If they are all on server, the I can then advise you to delete the 'popstate.dat' file to reset download info.

Still using Outlook and all emails are there. I am using 8 email accounts on 2 domains and none of the messages download. Understand that it works now but if I enable "Fetch headers only" NO messages are downloaded and the links do not work. If it matters I am using a unified inbox.

Everything is working as long as "Fetch" is not enabled.

re : I am using a unified inbox. Please check this setting:

In 'Account Settings' window

  • select the 'Server Settings' for the account.
  • click on 'Advanced' button
  • select the checkbox 'Include this server when getting new mail'
  • click on 'OK'
  • Do this for each pop mail account.
  • click on 'OK' to save and close Account Settings.

Exit and then restart Thunderbird to ensure it is using updated settings.

Did you need to select that checkbox ? Do you use 'Local Folders' Inbox as the unified Inbox ?

That was already checked. I'm am convinced I found a bug and I think so because I can toggle the Headers Only to make the problem appear or disappear.

Thanks for the help but I do not want to bother anyone further about this. It is no big deal.

I'm not using version 60 so cannot test, but the issue does not sound correct. Your help in detecting potential bugs is very much appreciated. You can report a bug at the following link. You may need to create an account if you have not done this before. Please state what OS you use and version of Thunderbird. Tell them all the info. What you selected - stating all the things that are selected as discussed in previous comments, so they understand your complete setup. State what occurred. Many thanks. This is the link:
