I just realized that on the 4th of February, apparently all my history was deleted one way or another. I like my history, I find it very useful. Luckily I have a couple of places.sqlites left over around my computer from last year, as backups when I was fiddling with things which might have backfired, which contain a faire portion of what I've lost. Is there any way to merge these with my current profile, so I can get my old history back as well as keep the new history which as accumulated since February?

Hi Jadewolf.....

To do this I think you can simply copy the places. This should work, although copying places. sqlite-shm and places.sqlite-wal as well would be best.

Hello jadewolf,

If you received or saw phone number earlier, please note that it is a scam. Please do not attempt to call that number. If you have made contact with them, please see Avoid and report Mozilla tech support scams.

Thanks

You can't easily copy/import history from another places.sqlite. I think that the only possibility to get this history would be to extract this history and import the history as bookmarks.

You can look at this NirSoft utility to inspect and export history on Windows:

You would have to export the history as HTML and import this HTML file in Firefox.

Best is to create an HTML and JSON backup before starting to experiment.

Well, I would do this normally, but if I copy the places now then I just get my old history back, up to the backup date, and lose what's accumulated since February. I want to merge both, so I'll look into that Nirsoft utility that was proposed below. Thanks!

Thanks, I'll give this a try. Is there not a Firefox extension that can do with this?
