I updated Thunderbird yesterday and today my new emails are coming in but without any text in the Correspondents, subject, date fields. I reinstalled today and still nothing. If I click on the email it shows up, but not until then...that is not right.

Run in safe mode (hold Shift when launching TB). Any difference? If it looks correct, you may have to 'Reset toolbars & controls'.

I did as you said and yes the emails came back normally but I do not understand what to do next. I went to the web page and tried to follow the directions but there was not much there. And...why should I have to do all this? This was after your update for Thunderbird. Can I go back to the previous version until this is fixed? I need a download for the previous version please. I have used your software for years, 20 or more, and this never has happened before. Kathy

Also the calendar went all dark, everything is grey instead of the light colors. I don't know much about the calendar, just started using it yesterday, but it is not the same. Everything I put in there seems to be okay, just everything is dark now.

If you did 'Reset toolbars & controls' and 'Make changes & restart' at the safe mode prompt, TB restarted in normal mode with a rebuilt layout, which sometimes is corrupted after a major update.

In Tools/Add-ons/Themes, choose the default theme. If some parts like the calendar have dark backgrounds, choose the Light theme, then select the Default theme. It's a known issue that themes in TB 78 are not working properly.

TB 68 is available here. Downgrading is not straightforward: uninstall 78, install 68, don't run TB at the end of setup, open a Run window (Windowskey+R), type thunderbird.exe -p --allow-downgrade, select the profile, OK. Before you do this, export your address books in 78 to LDIF files, so they can be imported with 68.

Okay, I did get the default light option to work and my text is back, for today anyhow. If this was a known issue why was the update released? That does not make any sense! Mine is fixed for now, thank you. But I cannot use any of my themes. Kathy

The old complete themes don't work, with a few exceptions that are now released as Extensions, e.g. DeepDark. But 'lightweight' themes still work.

Updates are always released with known issues, and every iteration attempts to fix them, although new ones appear in those as well.
