On a certain webpage the behaviour of CRTL + left click vs. right click -> open in new tab is deviating. I've tried it with turned of addons and in different versions of firefox. (It is annoying because it overrides the current tab and i have to restart the listing of podcasts)

https://www.mdr.de (for example check out the podcast episodes here https://www.mdr.de/nachrichten/podcast/kekule-corona/index.html ) CTRL + left click = mostly opens in the same tab right click menu = works fine

Sites often attach scripts to links to control what happens with them. If they intercept the click before Firefox processes it, they can ignore the Ctrl key and direct the link to open in the same tab.

Sometimes middle-click works better than Ctrl+click.

Otherwise, the right-click context menu is the best workaround.

Hi,

I opened the website above it has the same behavior. however Right click and open link in new tab worked fine. It may be the behavior of the website. I check for shortcut on that site but no assigned shortcuts were found for Ctrl + left click. please provide more websites where you face the issue at least two.

@Mohamed, this issue occurs really rarely to me, so I only have examples from that website. Turning on Ublock addon solves some of that. @jscher i will try to change to middle mouse clicking :)
