trouble transfering thunderbird 97 from 2021 windows 10 lenovo thinkpad to 2022 samsung windows 11 laptop
I have tried following the video of how to transfer thunderbird. HOwever when it says to download and open thunderbird on new computer without setting up an account that isn't possible. Every time I try to download and open thunderbird it opens it with the partial transfer than my husband accomplished. It left out all my contacts and most of my archived emails. What archives it did move are not grouped by year. I need the complete contacts and archives. HOw can I get them transferred given that I can't open thunderbird without the messed up partial transfer automatically showing up? It prevents me from getting to a place where I can 'go 3 steps back to roaming' as that has never been an option

First, it seems you are using a Beta. Just my two cents: that's never a recommendation for regular use. For compatibility with your setup, however, I suggest installing the same version on Samsung. Ver 97 is not fully downward compatible to ver 91. Okay, to move the account,
1. copy from Lenovo: c:\users\(yourID)\appdata\roaming\Thunderbird and place in same location on the Samsung. 2. start TB. It should immediately recognize the profile.
David I hope you are still available to help The samsung pro windows 11 laptop had to be returned to Costco because of multiple problems like would not charge to 100% and got a hotspot when using; local tech company recommended returning it. Now I am having trouble getting thunderbird set up on the replacement. I can't read the entire thread that we went through the last time I had trouble; only the start of it. I recall it worked, but I can't remember the very detailed instructions you gave me. You may remember I am 71 yo and not particularly tech savvy. This time my husband backed up thunderbird to dropbox file but when tried to install it on new laptop there are no archives by date and NO addresses in address book
