Fact #1: On my browser settings page, says my browser is being managed by my organization. I have no organization. Clicking on that link brings up about:policies, and shows a policy named "Certificates."

Fact #2: Settings show my laptop is located in Fairmount, GA.

Fact #3: My laptop and I live in Indiana.

Fact #4: I am unemployed, but my last employer was located close to Fairmount, GA.

Is my former employer in GA still somehow connected to my Firefox account? They were all about Google for work spaces, apps, etc., didn't have anything to do with Firefox. But it's interesting that my Firefox account shows my laptop located in Fairmount, GA and my former employer (organization?) was also located close to Fairmount, GA.

I would like for Firefox to make sense: No organization controlling my browser, and location correct.

Seeing the "Your browser is being managed by your organization" notification at the top of the Settings page is in most cases caused by security software that uses GPO policy rules (ImportEnterpriseRoots) to inject their root certificate in Firefox to be able to intercept and scan your internet traffic.

You can click the "Your browser is being managed by your organization" notification or open the about:policies page to see if policies are active and if errors are reported.

You can check the connection settings.

  • Settings -> General -> Network: Connection -> Settings

If you do not need to use a proxy to connect to internet, select "No Proxy" if "Use the system proxy settings" or one of the others do not work properly.

See "Firefox connection settings":
