when trying to play a game on pogo the applet opens but only loads a black page. then i get at least 7 or more java icons in my tray.

This issue does not affect all java applets and the ones that do are fine in IE8 and Chrome. This MAY be a proxy problem at work but I can't see why it only affects some applets. One known to fail is the test vm app on Oracle/Sun own Java page.
