Changed from XP to W7. I saved bookmarks to thumbdrive as : gdpd5nlf.default as recommended but I cant import into Firefox on W7 64 bit

As above, I changed from XP to W7 64 bit. I had saved bookmarks onto the above file on a thumbdrive but I can't import the file using the import function in firefox. When I look at the files they have an extension .json . Not sure what this is.
